Hi and welcome - my name is Mary Lynn, the healthy webmaster of Home Remedies Haven.
I was born and bred in Africa, from very strong Irish roots. One of them being my Mother, who, for reasons that will remain unknown to me, had very little or no faith in traditional medicine.
I was a healthy child, but my exposure to home remedies and concoctions came at a very early age because the younger of my two brothers was a chronic asthmatic, and he was constantly made to do the rounds of homeopaths, herbalists and traditional healers.
I saw, what I thought then, as him being subjected to all sorts of brews, weird stuff to eat, strange ointments to rub on his chest, as well as bizarre things to wear around his neck
These home remedies and healing herbs were ingrained in me from a very young age, but it was only as I got older that I found the need to find out why these remedies worked.
And so began a journey of recording the ancient and legendary remedies and a very strong desire to explore what they contained that gave them their healing powers.
I have not only spent many rewarding hours researching this subject, but have also spent hours listening to, and questioning people, to find out what the personal remedies are, that have been passed down through the centuries in their families.
I have shown, where I can, how these natural ingredients are now based on scientific research.
In My "other life" I am involved in energy saving exercises and have contributed to the saving of MW's of power for the country that I live in.
I have, in the process, witnessed first hand the waste of our resources and the lack of knowledge in us as humans, for what our planet has to offer, and perhaps this is also what prompted this website, because I have, not only seen that we need to preserve this world for ourselves, but also that we must understand and take advantage of what it has to offer and use it!!
An then there is A, the person who inspired me to start this
website, a constant help, and an amazing support that I cannot begin to
explain how lucky I am to have.
And of course Fraser who has supported me in the endless hours that I have spent researching this subject and transferring this knowledge to my website.
Fraser, my partner and love for the last 30 years, passed away on the 18th of September 2013. I miss his love and friendship in a way I never thought I could.
Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon.
